How to Care for Retainers

How Long to Wear Retainers

Generally speaking, we recommend patients wear their retainers indefinitely as much as possible after ortho treatment. This is to prevent the chances of teeth becoming misaligned in the future.
Wearing your retainer will also help prevent the need for additional ortho treatments such as a second round of braces again.
Replacing Retainers
Retainers may need to be replaced periodically due to normal wear and tear or damage. It is important to replace retainers when they become worn or damaged to ensure that they continue to hold teeth in their new position.
If a retainer is lost or broken, please contact us right away to get a replacement. Delaying the replacement of a lost or broken retainer can result in teeth shifting back to their original position.
